Little Roald loved reading stories. School was not a happy place for him, his time there fuelled his imagination and he left in search of adventure. 

After writing about a plane crash that nearly cost him his life, he knew that he wanted to be an author. Roald began telling his kids bedtime stories, and from there created some of the most beloved children's books ever.
